I believe these two vases to be WMF Ikora Art Deco Glass vases made in Germany in the 1930’s, if you think differently I would be pleased to hear what you think! They are approximately 10” (26 cm) tall and weigh in at over 6 lbs each, there are flecks of aventurine mostly within the green at the top of the vases. They are not quite the ‘egg’ shape of Dexelei Art Glass Vases but similar, so any other opinions would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Re: the two vases. They are not WMF ikora for sure. WMF did not have pontil mark but were flat based and the splatter motif in the glass is not WMF. Interior definitely different. I have a WMF vase. Your two vases are Monart art glass. I also have a Monart but different colours. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much noname! I have looked at the possibility of Monart but could not find the exact same shape. I will research again! To be honest, when I bought them I had hoped that they were a pair of Monart!! :). Thanks again!
I know how you feel. My vase is blue over red. Never seen another. Do not worry about shape. Tons of shapes and yours is not out of the ordinary. The answer is the colors and how its done. Monart has stronger colors than WMF. WMF colors more linear and segmented. Monart became Yasart and there was a transition period. Yasart glass softer colors. What does can,t find shape mean.....RARE...RARE.
P.S. - Never heard of Monart being copied. Colors are right. These are hard to find vases. in any color. Lady luck has shone on you and your wallet.
Well thank you so much for your advice here! I bought these at a local (off line) auction a while back. I could kick myself now as there was a third one but a different shape! That one came up first and as I particularly wanted to buy the pair and not sure what they would make I let the first one go in case I could not afford the three. I could have, I paid less than £50 for my pair!!! :(. Still, why should I have all the luck!? Kindest regards!
Over here in Canada (near Toronto Ontario), we call that stealing. I paid $400 Canadian for mine. You never see Monart over here. Mine is 7inches high and 6 inch dia. The form is known but the colors are not. The mottling of the lower color on yours and mine are not that common within Monart but scream Monart. I am told company production info hard to get. Good hunting. Knowledge creates luck.
Hi noname (you should give yourself one!!:). Can you post yours? I would like to see it! Also I have one other that I think is a Monart, but that has a button pontil which I was led to believe was a Monart signature. It is on my posts from about 6 years ago. This was another reason for my dismissing the idea of this pair being Monart. (I do love them).
I can but it may take some time. Being a newbi to the computer, I will require help.Sad reflection of getting old. I agree about the button and Monart and your other piece probably is,should internals be the same. Mine has a polished pontil. I can say without question that I have never seen a vase represented being another companies that looks like prewar Monart. At 72 yrs, I have seen lots. Bear with me.

I will try and give you a heads up when its done. Just a thought. Hold your button piece and your new one close together close to some light and check out the internal workings. That may be where your clues are. Being a retired bobbi,I believe my eyes,not my ears. If you can,google the Perth museum in Scotland and look for similarities. Will get back to you. Will give you heads up when done. Noticed that the Dex... art glass vases have no foot. Thought: hold button vase and new vase together close to light and look at internal make up for clues. Being an old retired copper,I believe my eyes not my ears. Get back to you as soon as I can. Regardless of outcome,you have two very nice pieces of art glass. The quality rings through which is the 1st clue.
Got lucky. Google: "Czech. glass that looks like monart glass". Top row: click 3rd from left. { should show cylinder vase}. Related images-top row: Click 2nd from left. Should show monart vase green over orange thru Loveantiques.com Durham U.K. Vase apparently sold. Vase exactly like mine only your colors. All their monart vases indicate polished pontil. Note the interior work. Look familar.

Click on for info. They have verified it. Again,it is exactly like mine but in your colors and again with polished pontil. Hope this satisfies your needs. Great buy.
Hello no name! Well I have looked at ‘Czech glass looks like Monart’, which took me to a straight sided vase with my vase’s decor. This site does say that this vase is Czech and not Monart. Then there was one on ‘Scottish Antiques’ that say Czech and not Monart with only a £45 sale price on it. Link as follows:-https://scottishantiques.com/monarttapervase. There was also a ‘Vasart’ site which again had my vase decor and dismissing it as a Monart lookalike. So I think the jury is still out until we can find a very positive I.d. The trouble is, that there are a lot of unscrupulous dealers that will claim their glass is a certain make. Also, if you put WMF into this CW glass site it will bring up previously posted WMF vases and there are some with polished pontils. I think I need to research a little bit more before deciding. But thank you so much for your input, much appreciated.
I understand your concerns. Unsigned pieces are always a headache and your bang on in regards to dealers. Probably the best way would be a trip to the glass museum in Perth,Scotland. That should put an end to the chase. I have a huge Val St. Lambert from the 20,s,a Joseph Simon design which is unsigned. Had it for 28 years before I found out the who,thanks to computer tech.
