Harrach is well known for its hot shaped décorated vases, this so called 'Barock' glass, many of them with applied animals, was very popular in the 1880. The aquamarine blue vase shown here, is décorated by finely hot shaped white thorny handles imitating chinese dragons, at this time known from metallic vessels only. The lid is enhanced by three similarly shaped white applications. The delicate enameling shows japonistic influenced tiny birds of 1.5 cm size and flowering treebranches surrounded by 'Renaisance Revival' ornaments. The vase with lid stands 27 cm heigh. Similar vases were shown by Harrach at the Antwerp World Fair 1885, one example is documented in the book edited by Jan Mergl 'From Neuwelt to the whole World' at page 277 fig.326.
