Tango 3-handle vases - sizes

I had an early fascination with three handle vases, their colors and shapes realy got me thinking... how groundbreaking they were.

The Czechs realy like Color (as seen in their folk arts)....and a strong geometric shape (the opposite of organic shapes) . Then here comes this Tango craze from Buenos Aires, Paris and beyond. These very austere shapes with bright candy colored cased glass suddenly became very popular.

The conformity of minimalist design and the Simpicity of un-decorated “Tango” colors stand out as ahead if their time. I’m sure time passed and the pendulum swung the other way; the business responds by sending them to other companies to decorate. Colorful enamel and cameo came and modified the line’s esthetic.

1. Keystone shape: This is the most common shape thare is -even so, they are beautiful.

2. Diamond shape: I believe this shape was the one that came directly from the design of Marie Kirschner (on view at the Passau Glasmuseum). Just because the shape matches the diamond shape exactally doesn’t mean she was credited by Loetz for the design, although she is clearly the inspiration for this shape if not others shapes as well. It comes in 4 sizes and many colors

3. Gourd shape: This Shape appears with more than one mark so I am suggesting that Kralik made some of these vases (the cursive “Czecho-Slovakia” mark found on other Kralik tango glass). It comes in 4 sizes and can vary in the angle of the handles as well as the length of the neck.

4. Round bowl shape : this shape is complements the gourd shape in the same way that the keystone compliments the duo mind shape.... this seems to be a theme a tall shape with a matching bowl shape. It comes in 4 sizes in many colors
