This is something I love to own but I would never wear. The taste has certainly changed over the years. I am not totally sure but I believe that these bracelets go back to around the the 1950's or so. It is well made and heavy and in good vintage condition.
Thanks for looking:)
Very pretty & interesting charms, looks like ivory tusks & tribal masks with rubies, perhaps a good luck bracelet
I think it is meant to look like it, Newfld, but it is definitely a costume piece and yes, I think, too, that it is supposed to bring good luck - at least I hope so:)
I found some "Scatter pins" while out and about. My daughter says "Scatter pins" are passe! I always watch "Murder She Wrote" and like the way Angela Lansbury wears pretty scarves and such neck appeal with "Scatter Pins" on them. Thought I'd try it, but nowadays will folks talk that I am out of touch with the style ??I have Ivory roses one small and one larger, same gold setting. and Double crossed wishbones with one small pearl, and a tiny light blue clear stone on each one which I think is a "real" gem. So , what do you think? Too old fashioned? I'll put them on CW later today.
You are so right, Mary. Sometimes I buy items that otherwise would not be appreciated and most likely been tossed in the garbage, even if I don't like them as much or I don't collect them. But my husband tries to keep a lid on my buying and this is a good thing. There is a fine line between a collector and a hoarder LOL.
On the other hand, one never knows when things come back into fashion. I recently cleaned out a closet and my youngest daughter was in heaven! She likes vintage clothing and works part-time in a vintage store. She gladly took at least half of the stuff I wanted to donate:)
Gudrun:)
PostCardCollector, thanks for your comment! My girlfriend loves "Murder She Wrote" and wears scarves and pins and brooches all the time! I recently introduced her to watching "Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries" because I love the way "Miss Fisher" dresses. Too bad that dressing like in the 20's is a bit impractical, but I really love the style! I remember when I was a little girl dressing up in my mom's dresses, hats, and shoes from the fifties! She even kept the handbags. Too bad that somehow everything got thrown out! I am sure my daughter would love to wear one of my mom's summer dresses!
So, PostCardCollector, I don't think you are out of touch with the style; actually, I think you are rather a trend-setter! I cannot wait to see your post:)
Gudrun:)
I would wear that piece. I do like to wear my vintage jewelry, even at the risk of appearing "out of style." Sometimes it is a challenge to find a way to wear certain pieces, but in my work setting both now and in the past, I think I have inspired other women to wear their special pieces more. I get a kick out of finding a clever way to wear something. It has become a fun way for me to express myself. I say go for it!
