Ive been hanging on to two of these charms for a few years now hoping to have some luck with identifying the hallmarks. They test for gold using an electronic tester but Im still not sure if they are solid or high quality gold fill. Im also leaning to early 20th century as a date. Hoping one of the knowledgeable people on collectors weekly can help with this, thanks!
Hi themuse, is that a GV mark? It does look Victorian, but not sure. Thank you for showing, and hope someone can help! :^)
Here's one with a similar 13 on it from 1910:

It's a little fancier, an idea anyway! :^D Nothing on the GV mark though. :^)
Here's something about gold vermeil, that might help if your piece is marked GV

Check the part on gold vermeil! :^)
Gold vermeil is an idea, but do you know when that mark would have begun to be used? I wish I could just figure out what language or script the other mark was in, that would at least point us in the right direction.
To me it looks like MORTS, but I don't know if that means anything! :^)
Here's one a lot like yours. They say French 1980's, but not detail on the marks:

I hope this helps! :^)
