What can I say...but I just *love*me an occasional oddball chunk of cast iron, and I think this sorta qualifies for that description...? <lol>
This one followed me home from an estate sale today. (where it looked particularly unusual sitting on the kitchen counter...who put it there??) It is obviously a 'wheel chock' (wedge one puts under a wheel of a vehicle to keep it from moving) with an ECOA diamond shaped name/logo on its face with text "CHOCK YOUR WHEELS". Inside its bottom the words "WHC-SDS (SBS?) EQUIPMENT CO. OF AMERICA" appear. It weighs at least 15lbs, and measures 10" x 8" x 7", about 9" wide.
I don't know how old it is, or if it was intended to be a standalone chock vs. maybe a part of an industrial/automotive 'lift' of some sort. All I can find at the moment relating to the ECOA name/logo suggests that they are a company that still makes(?) loading dock equipment -- I haven't yet found anything about that 'equipment company'. SUGGESTIONS are MORE THAN WELCOMED, if anybody out there recognizes this thing as a piece of something else?!!
Meanwhiles, it is pictured sitting in one of my planter beds outside, where it landed and will very likely remain, helping 'decorate'...in another month or so there'll be a bunch of little red flowers popping up all around it. ;-) :-)
{{EDIT}} Information shown in the 'trademark search' link supplied by fhrjr2 indeed suggests this item was likely produced between the late 1960's-80's, and that ECOA was likely a trademark of EQUIPMENT CO. of AMERICA (located in FL) who seemingly produced a variety of what would otherwise be 'assorted heavy cast iron things' typically found around a loading dock. THANKS SO MUCH for the helpful clues!! <applause>

I found your trademark which is now what is called a dead mark. First registered in 1966 to this company. I will provide a link below to make it easier for you to review info.

(finally?) Came across this website today which seems to indicate that ECOA is still in business producing wheel chocks to this day. None pictured are made of cast iron anymore, but the logo hasn't changed much... (even if its trademark has expired?)

For those who might still be uncertain, scrolling slightly down on that page shows a drawing of how "wheel chocks" are used. (and incidentally explains the 1/4" hole on one side of the bottom part of mine, where the chain from the 'optional anti-pilferage kit' would have attached to it...)
