It looks like it's foliage. But what is all the white stuff??? Is that on the wood? Or is that metal? If it's metal, you need to get it off there, the sooner the better. I'll just tell you now cuz I don't know how soon I can make it back here... if it is on the metal, It will eat away at it because it's corrosion caused by the metal cleaner used. You can take a soft toothbrush a brush much of it off. Water can also be used but just make sure you dry it completely. In the deep crevases you can use a toothpick to remove it. test a small spot to make sure you aren't scratching it. I've always used a toothpick and never done any damage. It's a real nice box. If it is wood you could use murphys oil soap, then some orange oil to condition afterwards.

It's for Frankincense and Myrrh, and made recently for International Treasure Chest, Inc. in Langhorne, PA. I have one that was made in 1995, so not sure if they're still in business, but would be easy to find out. Here's a little from the flyer in the box: "Frankincense (yellow) and Myrrh (brown) are fragrant gum resins" . . . "These pure resin teardrops fill a hand-crafted box specially selected for displaying your Royal Treasures (TM)"

The treasure box is made to look old, and then it tells:
" Slight irregularities in the wood and brass filigree are the hallmarks of hand-crafted workmanship. Occasional brass polishing will maintain the brilliance of the filigree."

I hope this helps! Thanks for the post! :^)
