    Vintage Fire Hydrant from Anniston, Alabama.. c.1947 fire hydrant cast iron.. From a historical period.. Found this heavy item at a Ca, flea market.. enjoy.. Size 14” wide.. 22” tall..

      I'm with 'ya Rivertrout -- I wouldn't even *think* about 'repainting' it or otherwise altering its current original (just once, as you point out) appearance -- the only question I'd have (if it were mine) would be whether to display it inside the house (to preserve it 'as-is') or outdoors. (so's to let it continue to 'age naturally'...?)

      And to FtApache's comment -- I'm guessing its in the 100-150lb range...?? <lol>

      AnythingObscure, yes it’s heavy.. good thing the flea market had rolling carts.. as for displaying it has a industrial look to it.. some people make tables with them etc.

      Yep, Mani. Raised in them thar mountains. Number of foundries were there, and enough military bases that gave us the feeling that the yankees still didn't trust us.
