I bought this at a yard sale today and was curious as to what it is? I assume it's not real, but who does know thanks in advance.

Not something I have a great deal of knowledge about but it is quite real. This is a representative's medal from an Illinois statewide convention of the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). In roughly the first half of the 20th Century all major service clubs and fraternal orders would hold regular state and national conventions - often called "encampments" but usually in posh hotels. Often medals and ribbons were presented to the participants. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of variations. This can be recognized as an IOOF medal by the three oval "links of chain" at the bottom .
