I bought a brooch lot recently and this was the main reason. I thought this was a neat looking filigree brooch and was curious about the stone in it. Does anyone know what it is? Any ideas about age?

Beautiful with unusual filigree, the back swirl design is quite lovely too. That is a marvelous glass stone, love the way it reflects light
It is a beauty, but I'm not so sure it's as old as it looks. It looks Victorian, or older, but I'm thinking 1970's or newer, by the way it looks on the back, and the hinged pin, and latch. I do really like it though! :^)
I'm curious about the weight of it Mrstyndall, is it metal? It almost looks like a composite, resin fiber, or aluminum? I'm stumped! &:^}
Jenni and Bill, thanks for the nice comments and info. Bill, it is made of metal and has some weight to it.
Thanks, I'll be checking back to see if anything is found out about this! :^)
Ken, thanks. It might be Czech-not marked, but another brooch in lot was marked Czech. I’ll post it later
Ms.crystal, had not heard of an Eilat stone before. The closest thing that I saw with minamal research was American or Mohave turquoise with the golden or fire looking streaks in it. But I don’t know, it might just be glass??

Very interesting stone. Have never see a stone as such before!
Fantastic find, the metal goes so well with the stone and the filigree is beyond good workmanship, a treasure !~
Beautiful !
fleafinder, the stone has me stumped and intrigued also. Thanks for stopping by
Ms.Crystal, appreciate the info. That is really cool-would be really nice if it was Eilat since it is rare :).
Phil, thanks for stopping by and commenting. The metal work on this is amazing and detailed and the stone is neat too :)
Manikin, thanks a bunch :)
I think that you're right about it being Mojave green copper turquoise, there are some that I saw that look just like the one on your Brooch! :^D Now we have to find out more about the Brooch! :^)
Here a link to dating the Pinback on the brooch:

This would date yours after 1930, but I think newer. :^)
Bill, thank you so much for the info-that post is a good reference. Maybe one day, I will find out more about it ;)
Beautiful filigree work and glossy, shimmering stone! I agree with Eileen; I don't know which side I like best!
