First patented July 12, 1870 to G. Maulik as a saw (patent image shows the same blade). Full text is not available for this patent number. Sorry the information is limited but it is all they have for it.

Windwalker - Your Google search puts an "A" at the end of the patent number. That would indicate a revision to the original. That could make this one without the "A" more valuable. I didn't search Google or use the "A", I just checked the patent office archives. If the "a" was required to be on the item after the revision that should add to the value of this one.
Perhaps someone will weigh in on that.
lol.... looks like a drive by posting... fhrjr2, oh well ....bak out side and eat some more black flys....dont you miss them ...smiling
Windwalker - I haven't seen a black fly in 20 years and have no desire for a reunion. I used to buy horse wipe and dilute it in a spray bottle to keep them away.
LOL ...fhrjr2, I just let them feed, it tuffens me up for the Mosquitoes .....dont seem to last that long anymore and it helps keep the tourist away a little longer ... smiling enjoy the sun...
Thanks. I had already done the patent search. I didn’t know about the “a” at the end meaning a revision of the original, thanks.
Just wish I knew what it was used for!
