this is solid brass the only marking on it is a stamped 6 or 9 it was found in cripple creek Colorado
its 3.5" in dia.
its 3.5" long one end is tapered to fit into a bearing or something

Since no one has chimed in on this yet I am going to venture a guess: It's part of some kind a locking device such as part of the innards of a safe's lock. (?)
