So each day I started trying to scan as many photos from my collection as I can and I ran across this gem. I am pretty sure
it is the largest photo I have. It looks to be around an 8 X 10 that is why I called it a Full Plate. It was in a frame as you can kind of see from the round outline. The frame was in terrible condition and is no longer around. It also had a newspaper clipping from the mid to late 1800's about the train schedule in New York behind the photo.
Well, take a look and feel free to leave a comment
What are the dimensions of the tintype?
Wonder why their hands are positioned in that 'posed' way.
Sounds like it is a Whole Plate-- dimensions are usually 8.5 X 6.5.
I like the landscape orientation in order to get the entire group in the image. Most images that I encounter are oriented as Portraits (even with a large group).
Additionally, most examples this size and larger are enlargement photographs. Your image is very sharp and shows every indication of being the original image (not a period copy).
Thanks for sharing!

Don't see any guns, but they certainly wouldn't look out of place with this group. LOL
