This is a pin/pendant that I believe was a service recognition pin for (now deceased) former employee of Southern Bell? Bell South? My friend now lives in the same living space that his grandmother once occupied. Someone in the family is a "hoarder" òf sorts most of her things were untouched. She lived modestly and there were many random items still in cupboards, boxes etc. This little piece was one. This is one of a few mysteries he had given to me. I heard that each diamond signifies 5 years of service (?) I could be wrong. It was in a box- untouched. Here I am, seeking the community here to learn from and share alike.
Each diamond is five years of service, this person work for Southern Bell for forty years. The most I have seen is forty five years. This pin with the Bell Logo was first used in 1969 to 1984.
Thank you very much. I have a question if you don't mind:) I have been straining my eyes with a loop trying to find a mark . 10 or 14 kt- or just about anything to show metal and authenticity mark fot stones. By any chance would you happen to know if these Bell South service pieces were sometimes made being costume jewelry? It has not been handled much at all. I know that she did work there for her life up until retirement. That is right here in Orlando, FL. There are only a few I have been able to view on line. I have searched and then some! The closest one I've seen is marked right on the back. I wonder if I've missed it- Thanks so much in advance.
All of the service pin were 10k gold, some where it is marked on the back or the edge.
This is a RETIREMENT award. Each diamond represent 5 years of service, so this pin having 8 diamonds means that the person who received it served 40 years or more, but less than 45.
