Hello everyone
Bought this brooch recently as I had not seen anything quite like it before!
It is a crystal or glass half of an orb, set in a gold tone bezel which has four stations each set with three red glass stones.
The base of the orb is flat with enough room to put a picture in it. The picture will be magnified when looking through the front of the brooch.
I hope that makes sense, is not easy to describe!
The brooch has a long pin with the hinge and c clasp appearing to be all original, and I would guess Victorian...............
I have searched every keyword and phrase I can think of, but have not found anything like this brooch yet! I Really love it, and would be really pleased to get your thoughts, guesses or ideas. Thanks, judy
So pretty & unique Judy, great idea to add a photo inside it, and alone it would be very reflective of any color top you wear - love the three red stones all around
It's quite lovely Judy!
Wow! Really unusual, and antique Victorian for sure!
I think it was meant to stay as it is, a nice rounded rock crystal cab :-)
I have somewhere (...!?) A small one with only a band set with tiny turquoises crossing the top.
Hi Jenni, thank you! It just is so different......I had to have it lol:-)
Thanks Ken for your wonderful comment, very much appreciated and I am really glad you think it is as special as I do :-)
Wow, this is really nice. Your thought of a picture could be correct. I was thinking that it just served as a magnifying glass and brooch. And look how long that pin sticks out. Your indication of an oldie for sure! Love it!
Hi Scott, thank you! It really is quite lovely ......a bit odd, but lovely at the same time!:-)
Eileen, I just love your comments on this brooch, so enthusiastic and helpful too for which I thank you as I tend to forget that not everyone knows why I made a point of the long pin! I am happy to have you explain reasons for things.....
So glad you really like it too, and it seems funny to me to be putting "victorian" and "costume jewellery" in the same sentance!! Not something I have really given much thought to even though I probably have quite a few pieces in my collection.......I must stop taking these pieces for granted!!
Hi Pascale, thanks for the "wow"and yes, I will just leave it as is I think!
Very pleased that you have one"somewhere" ........know that feeling! Lol :-)
Hello Share, thanks very much for your comment! I'm still not sure about the picture though and would not have thought of it either if the seller had not mentioned it in her listing.
Either way, it's old, unusual and really nice, I love it, and thanks for loving it too, much appreciated :-) )

Thanks for the love Sean, always very much appreciated :-)
Simple design and yet those usually make up the most beautiuful pieces. Possibly from a special stone made into a brooch to capture a previous owner's memory !!~
Hi Phil, I appreciate your interesting thoughts on this brooch, thank you for commenting and for the love too:-)

Hello KKK, Thank you for taking the time to look and love!:-)
This is gorgeous, absolutely stunning! Look up "Pools of Light." I think it's genuine rock crystal, as Pascale said.
Lovely antique brooch
Hi bt lens, thank you! It is pretty unusual isn't it! Yes I was searching through pools of light too and I guess with the way it is set and not being drilled it must certainly be rock crystal as both Pascale and you have said:-) ) there don't seem to be many brooches....certainly not like this one anyway! Maybe Pascale will find her similar brooch one day to compare :-)
Thanks again for commenting and for the love:-)
Many thanks Mrstyndall for your comment and the love, I am glad you enjoyed seeing this brooch:-)
Thanks very much for the love Tigra, always appreciated :-)
I am kinda late, but I go by "better late than never!"
Thank you Tigra, it absolutely is! I find it hard to keep up with all the posts.....life just gets in the way for all of us sometimes:-)
Wonderful, indeed victorian and I am pretty sure it's rock crystal. I have seen larger ones in pendants used as nice necklaces and also as a magnifying glass. What a great find!
Glad you enjoyed seeing this brooch Elisabethan and thank you for the rock crystal id too! Very unusual brooch I think:-)
Many thanks for the love Elisabethan and Zilla, always very much appreciated :-)
Yes, we miss you Judy, and are worried... Hope all is well!
