1950s Australian pottery hand vase

I generally prefer to collect glass hand vases, & only have a few ceramic examples, but I could not go past this large, rare, Australian pottery one, purchased just over 10 years ago.
It measures 29 cm tall, 15.5 cm across the four - way top rim, & 10.5 cm across the base.
Large amounts of slip - cast ceramics were made in Australia by numerous manufacturers during the 1930s - 1960s period. Many were decorative items such as vases, wall pockets, & posy troughs in a wide variety of shapes & sizes. The pieces from the 1930s tend to be in the muted greens, creams, & earthy browns popular at the time, while the 1950s brought a kitschy rainbow of candy floss shades as seen on this vase. Most hand vases have a ring on the ring finger, but this one has a "pinky" ring which is a bit different.
This most unusual hand vase was made by Pates Pottery of Sydney & is marked underneath V - 126.
