Old Victorian trunk on wheels that I found. Part of the flower littography still visible inside the lid. There's no tag or date on it but clamps are stamped with an "S" . And letters "H P T co" on bindings are visible. How can I find the manufacturer?
Thanks!!
I would say mid to late 1880's monitor or waterfall style trunk ( front and back edges being rounded ) very nice cast hardware, The S is for J.H. Sessions and Sons, they patented that hardware and it was used by many trunk manufactures, not all the hardware is Sessions, pictures are hard to see, to much light in the background, however the latches on the front are by Taylor patented around 1882 or so, if your talking about the wood slats as bindings, I have never seen any markings on slats, I don't know what HPT co is, without a makers label, almost impossible to say who made the trunk, from what I can see, very nice trunk, greendog.
And the HPT co is stamped on the hardware that looks like crown all around the trunk. Sorry for my english, not my first language
Thank you SO much Greendog! I spent many hours trying to find any informations on internet but didn't find much.
THANKS !! ????
Not a problem, I know a couple guys from Canada that collect trunks, I will try to do some digging and find out who the HPT CO. is , greendog.
This is a really nice monitor style trunk... the badges across the top and cast iron fingering on the edges make this stand out. Great find!
