The Full name of the model is M-3 Thorneycroft Antar, Sankey 50 Ton Tank Transporter & Centurion Tank Mark III. The M-3 is the Matchbox catalog designation. This model was sold from 1959-1966 and was part of the Major Pack series. Major Pack vehicles tended to be in scale with regular Matchbox models but were larger. But then there was the combine harvester. It was confusing they dropped the Major Packs in 1967 and the surviving vehicles went into the King Size line. This one was too small for the King Size line and went extinct.
It could just be me but it seems a truck and trailer with a tank on it is one of the coolest things ever. As can be seen the tank can be separated from the transporter. Tanks can be rough on roads and to avoid unneeded wear and tear on the tank transporters like these are used. Also used for broken down vehicles. Dragging a 50 ton tow truck can be rough on everything.
Still 3 more exciting new to me Matchbox sets to come!
That's a really cool set fortapache!!
I have one the same I found on the local tip, Just the tracks from the tank are missing.
Love it !!
Thank you very much nutsabotas6.
Thank you very much Scott.
Thank you very much boris55. The tracks are rubber and tend to dry rot away.

The centurion has gone AWOL, but my Antar is still sitting pretty and transporting a much newer Matchbox Abrams. :-)
Thank you very much Plame Old Crazy. Glad you got an Abrams for your dragon wagon.
