This was found in an old church resale shop in Iowa. Given it's seemingly dilapidated condition, I didn't feel I could do any harm in trying my hand at reconditioning it. To my surprise, and after many-many hours of scouring the internet for "how to" videos, I was able to completely refurbish my steamer, identify it and locate an original key for the lock. I am showing a before and after photo. I also redone the interior where I had to fabricate a tray for the inside.

Hey roket94, nice job compared to what it looked like before, because of the flat pressed tin finger like hardware on the top ends, I would say very late 1890's to 1900, also this is a travel trunk not a steamer, steamer trunks were flat, in the 34 to 40 inch range and usually no higher than 14 inches so that could fit under the bunks on steamer ships as space was limited, hence the name steamer trunk, greendog.
