Found this BPS Paint fingerjoint crate by accident in a little store in Amory, Mississippi a few years ago. It’s in great condition structurally, with some fading of the graphics and the orange in the logo. Unsure about the date, but guessing 1940s, 50s, maybe earlier. I really enjoy crates for the history they represent, the interesting graphics they usually have and for the fact that they’re still very useful and functional. I haven’t researched BPS Paint much. If anybody is familiar with the history of the company, please chime in..

Yes, started as Burtis, Patterson, Sargent in 1890. Just found that online. I suppose they spun those initials into the catchy slogan “Best Paint Sold”

I just found a box just like this in the pasture behind my house on the property I just purchase from my family. I resently got the opportunity to purchase the home place of my great great grandfathers farm. The land is peppered with early farm equipmen. Always finding something neat. I’m gonna start posting pics of some of the things I’ve found.

Old wooden boxes are handy for sure. I still have half a dozen of them out in my shops. I use them for storage also. I brought them to Florida with me from New England. City people see them and make an offer you can't resist. Mine are mostly old nail boxes like old time hardware stores got nails in. They had to be well built to hold 50 pounds of nails. Also have a nail keg somewhere.
