The green weight is the third of the group I recently bought. These were made for a gallery that originally existed in St. Tudy - a small Cornish town. The St Tudy weights were created from granite collected off the moors by Liskeard Glass on contract, and stamped "S.T". Later the gallery moved to Yelverton, Cornwall and more weights were created with the "Y" stamp. The Yelverton ones were appaaently made by Liskeard Glass or Isle of Wight Glass but no one is sure as to how many were made or how many were made by a particular studio.
A friend - a well known Australian artist commented that it was a tricky business getting the glass to go together with rock - but as you can see they figured it out.
I imagine that would be tricky! Quite different thermal properties. Great result!
