This, I thought, was a rare find when I saw it in an antique shop a few years ago, an intact 3-piece set of Loyal luggage. It was aggravating to me that the seller had them priced individually, in spite of the fact that they had managed to stay together for 70 years or so. They are 3 graduated sizes: the small cosmetics case, the unusual, almost cube-shaped medium size case and the large rectangular suit case. Each is in good condition with earth tone stripes and brass hardware. A metal badge reading “Loyal” is in the center between the clasps. I love old luggage pieces. They are so evocative of yesteryear, when things were made with style and attention to detail. My imagination wonders at the places these may have gone, the kinds of cars they were placed in the trunk of. I don’t know a lot about vintage luggage so I’m guessing that they may date from the 1940s or early 50s. Anyone’s input with knowledge of these would be much appreciated.
