My first Martin Maier trunk with MM hardware 45 pieces in total. It measures 32" long by 28" high by 22 " deep. Complete with tray, never had any lid compartments just the remnant of what was an envelope. This style of tray is the only one I have that has the underside/bottom door for the umbrella storage location. Other different pieces not normally seen is the alligator tin but with Cheetah spots on the two front center vertical metal bands on the lid face. Has ornate swivel castors (my second encounter with swivel castors) both styles different, and has a different style shoulder hardware which resemble that of Sessions but this one has a scroll work detail verses holes or plain.

Very nice Tom, I'am glad to see you got one, looks to be in pretty good condition, i'am sure there are some issues but what trunk doesn't have some, this one is late 1880's, the metal lid lifter was patented in 1887, I like the caster wheels, and the different tin on the front is cool, I have seen the front shoulders before and they were on a MM, much like yours, but I haven't seen them as much as the others you mentioned, same size as the one I posted and same configuration inside, very nice, love it, greendog.

Sorry Tom, The lid lifter was patented in Aug. of 1886 not 87, sorry, greendog.

Beautiful find... a bit funny because I saw this listed but had already been sold! So glad you picked it up... it’s beautiful and a welcomed addition to your collection.

Thanks Brian !! sorry for delay but have been away. After over a year of watching I just about ...my pants when I finally seen this one and it had been listed already for two days. I was shocked again when I learned it was still available. I thought trunkman would have been on this like a dirty shirt although it is a drive. But he did not.... Thus I am no longer a double MM virgin..lol

Thanks Trunkman !! He made me wait two days to get together to pick it up... So I though I may end up losing the opportunity with someone offering more than asking. But as you can see it worked out! He just today took the ad down. Did you call about the trunk? Thanks again trunkman always a pleasure to hear from you as you are my closest trunking neighbor!!

Well I definitely emailed about it when I saw the asking price... I only check Ontario adds now and again so did not see this for several days after posting..I was hoping it was you that picked it up.. sorta keep it in the family here. Are you going to refinish it?
