Hazel Atlas Glass Co. vs Continental Can Co.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I thought that I had an unmarked Hazel Atlas vase that was similar to my marked vase. I found another vase while thrift shopping yesterday, since I don't know where my, as I remember, unmarked vase is. Hazel Atlas Glass Co. (HA) operated from 1902 until 1956/7 when it was acquired by the Continental Can Co. (CCC). In 1964 CCC sold 10 of the 12 HA plants to Brockway Glass Co. It appears that CCC kept the HA trademark and logo, but it is uncertain if any glass marked HA was made after 1964. That may be when CCC switched from the HA to CCC mark on their glass. I also could not find out how long CCC operated the two remaining HA plants it owned. These vases, marked both HA and CCC are still common so many thousands must have been made and most that I have seen are in great shape. The HA and CCC vases are slightly different dimensionally and in the color of the glass, though. The HA vase is just a bit taller than the CCC vase and though both vases are the same size at the bottom, the CCC vase is noticeably wider at the top and the CCC vase is made of thicker glass which may account for the fact that the CCC vase appears to be a deeper white color than the HA vase. Not sure if these vases are representative of the changes of other HA versus CCC marked glassware. The HA marked vase also has a dot dash number ( * - 15 ) on the bottom and I have seen vases on ebay that have only that mark but not the HA or CCC mark. It will probably be a while before breaking one of these and not being able to find a replacement will become a problem.
