My husband has had this carrier and the bottles in his family for a very long time. It's wood and has a sliding handle. Printing on the side says 25 cent & deposit. The bottom of the bottles have Oakland, Calif. I haven't been able to find any other carriers that are comparable. If anyone has any idea when these were made, we'd really like to know more about them.
    Thanks

These were made during the war years when many other materials were in short supply. There are many variations of these plywood type carriers because many bottlers would contract their own vendors to produce these items regionally. Oddly enough many of these have survived the years because people would use them to store "home brew" in their basements. The red one is considered much more scarce than the yellow ones.
