Part 1 of the Oscar de la Renta designed Boy Scout uniform. Not counting the sneak preview of the shirt I posted last week.
The hat is a baseball style cap with a red front. The old hat can be seen in photo #2. It was quite like the army dress hats and usually worn for special occasions such as posing for Norman Rockwell paintings. The new hat was more practical and not as formal.
This hat was made in the USA and was most likely made in the 1980s. I am not sure when the hats started being made in China but I believe it was the 1990s. Got to gewt a USA hat for an authentic 1980s uniform.
Oh no! In photo #4 he has the hat on backwards revealing the adjustable plastic strap. This could cause some people's heads to explode. Why do those darn kids wear their hats backwards. As one who was around in the 80s that was a skater thing. The long bangs covering the eyes would make it hard to see thus the backwards baseball cap. Plus kids like making adults heads explode.

That model is all wrong of course. You can't be a proper scout in a backwards cap.
Thank you very much racer4four. His hat is now on straight with a proper 1980s uniform.
