      I would say from early to mid 1880's latches on front were patented around 1882 0r 83, the embossed metal was probably silver or gold in color originally, it's probably not but put a magnet on the embossed metal and see if it sticks, if it does it's tin, if it doesn't it's zinc, without a makers label impossible to say who the maker was, nice little trunk, greendog.

      Looks like possibly a lot of the corner clamps etc.. are missing. But otherwise a very nice trunk.
