Hello, I’m new here. Just bought this beautiful vintage humpback steamer trunk at an auction for $25. Has PAT’D MAR 69 on the lock and PAT MAR 1680 on hardware on the wood strips on top. Unfortunately some previous owner put new handles on it. Does anyone here know anything about this style trunk they could share with me?

You have a lovely dome top trunk from around the late 1890’s to early 1900’s. The dates in the hardware refer to the date they were patented but not necessarily the date the trunk was assembled. Mar 1680 would be March 16th 1880. Without a makers label difficult to say who made your trunk... many makers at the time with similar styles and sourced parts. Hope this helps a bit...
