Considered by aviation model collectors as one of the most prestigious models, this rare factory produced Lockheed Constellation model will be restored by 2019. It has a whopping 44" wingspan (1/36th scale) and as was hand-built by Lockheed using aircraft grade aluminum. This particular unit will return to its original EASTERN markings (similar to the one in the third photo). Mine features its original 3-bladed props that all spin with authority. Look for an update later this year.
This is unbelievably cool. The Constellation is a beautiful plane with some of the smoothest lines ever designed.
Thanks All. Yes, the Connie was a wonderful Art Deco design based on a dolphin's body shape. The three fins were a compromise to allow the airplane to fit into smaller hangers. That distinctive feature is now timeless. The model will take a few months to get back into shape but will be worth it. Other than missing a pair of wooden tires, it is complete including all of its prop blades which is rare.
Great model, beautiful on the ground or in the air. I flew in them in the 50’s. They served good meals....not peanuts.
Gary sells a reproduction stand for that model. I have the 34" wingspan of that model minus the gears.
