    Trenchartman
    (32 items)

It's been a long time since I posted anything. I came across several of these in a large lot of items I recently purchased. I cannot figure out what they are. The one end you can squeeze open like a clothespin. It has a fairly strong spring. Looks like a piece of hardware for who-knows-what?
If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks

Looks like it's some kind of opener, where you pull the side handles down and the base clamps on to a lid or a cover, and then you grab the straight handle and pull off? A whiskey barrel cork puller.....lol

Actually Bobby, at 4 1/2", it may be a linchpin. Actually, a good design for one.

      Bobby and Bluderbuss,
I bet you are both right. I was thinking cotter pin, since it is similar. I must have 20 to 30 of the things. The family I purchase stuff from said their dad would buy items in bulk from the old general stores way back in the day (usually items that were no longer needed or used). Got a lot of really neat items. Hope to post more when I have time.

These were used on cattle yokes to keep the hoops which go under the animal's neck from dropping out of the yoke. There may have been other uses but I have seen them used in that way.

Uncle Ron is correct. Oxen yoke pin
