These are some of the Repro porcelain signs out there today. They are not represented as repro . Instead some sellers are just stating “dated 1947” .Look at the so called rust. That rust has been chemical treated to appear like old rust. The iron substrate in older signs rusts differently than newer steel based signs. The older sign with rust are almost black in color. The last picture is what rust looks like on a sign from 1956.

So buyer beware. $275 is too much to spend on this sign. $35 is more like it ....just hang it and enjoy it. But it’s a repro and not from 1947 and not collectible.

Manikin you are welcome....today it’s getting harder and harder to distinguish the real from the fake. The manufacturering process is getting so good ....but thanks to Mother Nature for helping us along.

Some times the the content will give it away . Never seen a Mobelheat ? . Got to do your home work anymore . Another thing to watch is the smaller the sign the Easyer to fake . And there is a reason why a sign is to cheap .
