To cap off my Art Nouveau themed weekend in style, here is my most recent arrival.
A wonderful example of Kralik's Crocus decor, the vase measures 17.5 cm tall, 8.1 across the top rim, & 10.5 cm across the base.
This piece has SO much going on...a bulbous, yet oddly graceful form, semi-abstract spatter decoration that cleverly suggests crocus blooms pushing up from the earth, subtle iridescence, & a uranium content to boot!
It is heavy & substantial - the glass is thick, yet the vase appears delicate due to the illusionistic effects of colour & form working together in perfect unison. It feels like a step up for my collection. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!

Now this is one of those ‘specials’, we’ll it would be in my collection! One of those that I know I would not part with! Just lovely IronLace!! :)

Thanks so much, Justanovice, yes, I think it's a special one too. It was one of those pieces that was so much more impressive in person when I unwrapped it...

I'd not seen this décor before.......but it's an absolute pleasure to make its acquaintance!

I'd not seen it before, either...I was watching this vase, & it looked interesting, plus it had an odd attribution. Until someone kindly informed the seller that it was an example of Kralik Crocus, & they then amended the listing accordingly.
So I was not alone in bidding after that, but won it anyway.
I don't know about you, but if I see a "sleeper", I like it to stay that way! :-)
Well - meaning folks informing sellers of what they REALLY have on their hands is not too friendly to the bargain hunter. Let the informed (or at least aesthetically well - informed) work it out for themselves.
Some time ago, I was selling a piece of Chinese glass of 1970s vintage - a luridly coloured cased glass vase with an applied flower in a slapdash faux Victorian style. I knew what it was & listed it as such. Then a well - meaning person messaged me, saying did I know that it was really a valuable piece by Stevens & Williams? (As these mass - produced, 40 year old vases invariably tend to be listed)
Needless to say, I set them straight. :-)

Superb; as good as any of the examples in the Passau Glass Museum.

Ahhh The "Plum Blossom" line of Chinese "Stevens & Williams" production.
There is a seller out of the Seattle area that has three of them listed as S&W. I contacted them, including sending them a link to an online brochure showing what his vases are..... He told me I did not know what I was talking about..... LOL

IronLace, this is just such a gorgeous piece. The shape and the decor are perfect together and just lovely. I am so glad you were able to add this to your collection!

Something of a rarity this décor, doesn't show up that often - very nice thing!

Yes, the legendary Plum Blossom! We have heaps of them in Australia & just about every antiques shop has one more often than not attributed to S&W, or sometimes to Murano, by the slightly less ambitious. If those sellers had ever actually handled any real S&W glass.... :-)
One I saw an entire box load of Plum Blossom vases at a flea market - all with original stickers.

I really love this decor! I bid on a similar one once but unfortunately didn't win. So I'm still on the lookout. And I also love the way you pictured it, in the grass just like a real crocus.

Thank you most kindly, LauraH, & I do hope that you find your own Crocus vase someday soon!
