Mid-century Table - sort of 'Metropolis' style?!

maybe more 'atomic' style, but the stylized legs do kind of remind me of Metropolis in a way. i think that it's a modern library table from the 1950s in great shape too. There's a u.s. patent number and a canadian patent number, but no other identifying marks that i can see. it's fully adjustable up/down. i'd love to learn more about it - particularly the design of it. it's very well-made.
