Syrius Optisch, was a decor made by Loetz exclusively for Bakalowits in Vienna. This shape in metal mount is documented as a commission to Bakalowits (production number 85/3763), and the design is attributed to Antonija Krasnik (1874-1956), a Croatian designer who studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule (Arts and Crafts School) in Vienna with Koloman Moser.

Love, love, love this vase, Warren. The elephant metal holder is also most interesting. Congratulations!

Interesting, Deb - I didn't think of them as elephants until you mentioned it - I suppose they could be stylized elephant heads :)

Beautiful! Love the bronze mount! That would make an awesome tea light holder!

This piece would go great sitting on top of the Cooper Hewitt Museum's Adolf Loos "Elephant leg" table with the Loetz tile inserts. (or my table, if you want to send it to me! LOL) https://www.artsy.net/artwork/adolf-loos-elephant-table
