This is one of a series of pieces in varying heights made by Loetz in 1908 in their early "martelé" decor with an applied candia Silberiris base with applied leaves around the stem. They made several other pieces with applied decoration during this time utilizing early decors (silberiris, martele, rusticana) and embellished them with applied leaves, vines, etc. This is the shortest form in this shape, but it is quite heavy - almost 4 pounds! The applied base is about 6" wide.
