Updated my images to show it all cleaned up. I am actually growing a bit fond of it. It much more attractive once cleaned up.
When I was researching Bohemian glass, I remembered that caged vases were not uncommon. I found this vase today but could not remember what the Bohemian caged vases looked like, and this was only a couple of dollars, so thought it would be a good research opportunity. It is 7.5" tall x 7" in diameter at the widest point. and I was pretty certain it was not Bohemian, since it is so plain, and a bit of research makes me pretty certain of that, but thought I would check with the experts before re-releasing it into the wild. I found Mexican and Spanish vases that have something in common with my foster vase. Thoughts? Temporarily putting it in the Bohemian Glass category to attract the attention of the Pros.
Very interesting vase, does not have the Bohemian look of tooled art glass with these straight metal bands of the lobbed clear glass vase. Not sure either who else might have produced it and when. It does look like a quality piece to my eye. Here is a link to some caged Kralik glass vases.

Thanks. I think it is quality workmanship, too. I think is a modern piece, but maybe 20-30 years old.
Thanks for loving this thing! I finally got it clean, and it is actually quite striking now. I may not recycle it. The metal appears to be painted brass or copper.
