I found this pig bank and it's pretty big. As with all chalk figures the paint is chipping but there aren't any cracks. They used to sometimes hand these out as carnival prizes like they did with carnival horses.
OMG I'm about to post this exact pig, only mine is white. It says Mexico on the bottom of it too.
I like your piggy bank,I have two as well they are diffrent, male, female same size, orignal paint. They are silvestri brothers,1960s.trying to see what they are worth?Any ideas?
I have a white one also. My kids use to like to sit on it to watch t.v. I haven't been able to find what they are worth either.
I have been wondering that myself since I bought one at a flea mkt. for $3 last summer so I did a little research ...... Mine has no chips or cracks, is 21" long, 3 red flowers with green fern type leaves (one on the head and one on each side) dated 1966. A few minor scratches on the back like as if a kid had been sitting on it. I found 2 on ebay , like mine that had been sold. Both were in Elmira, NY but, were different sellers, 1 was bought by someone in England for $195.00 with shipping of $104.00, the other was sold for $125 with shipping of around $55.00. Also looked on Wikipedia and saw just $500 written. So I guess it is a sellers market depending on who's buying and how bad they want it. Hope the answer is satisfactory ..... ! David
Their is one on ebay for $15.80 w/ $15.00 for shipping. I just recently bought one at a antique shop for $15.00. I remember one of these as a child at my grandparents house. It was more of a sentimental purchase, however i am still curious as to what the value of them are today?
