Well, my mother saw this at a sale and decided she really liked it. The nails are mostly square, head and rod; there are machine-made screws in one of the hinges, which looks to be fairly typical cabinet hinges; and the handles look like they were leather belts. The hardware is wrought iron hammered into the pine wood of the box. We assume it was for saws, though it was clearly used as a work station as well. The paint was red and green, and the whole thing smells like creosote.
Anyone know how old this box might be?
Hi Spirit, hope all is well! Your mom has a really good taste. That's one cool box I know nothing about LOL but it sure looks very old. Would be curious to see a pic of the whole thing.
Hey, Anna, long time no see! You gotta keep posting on here more regular-like!
It's just a big, long box-- over a meter in length. It's empty inside with no additions to hold things.
Yes, long time indeed! It's been a crazy summer and also slow for acquiring new stuff, but i did get a few bottles and some fossils I'd like to post. I hope to get to this on Wednesday.
What are you/your mom planning to use the box for, if at all?
Anna, we look forward to seeing them.
My mother wants me to degrease it, preserve it, and then will likely use it at the foot of her queen-sized bed to hold ?????? She puts random things everywhere, so I dunno what it will hold. LOL.
I just posted one, which I think is a fossil LOL
The box will hold random things! =)))
