Got this at a yard sale. Any idea of a type or age? I’m new to all this but loved that it still had the tray

Well, it's an old flat top trunk, probably over 100 years old but how much I couldn't tell you. Unfortunately there were a lot of people making them back then and they were made by the thousands so unless it has a label or plate or some kind of distinctive hardware you just can't tell who made it. It looks a bit rough but if you put some work in to it you could have something that has people saying " Oh, cool, where did you get that?" when they come over. Be careful though, fiddling with these things can become addicting and the next thing you know you'll have a house full of them.
