Hi all , it’s the Asda Pocket Knife Club !
Here is our latest find , it’s around 1 1/2 inch fully closed , we are stuck on one of the tools ((see picture with red circle) not sure if a bit has Broke off ? . Our agreed by majority vote is a button hook ?

This one has more tools, and seems your hook is fine, it's a punch tool to make holes in leather? Good description from that old listing.
Keramikos, I realised that too late to go edit about the hoof pick, glad you corrected me. Don't quite understand the reference to sports man pocket knife and horses, but then this was during the 19th century, when everybody had horses not cars.
If you google this Hayworth pocket knife and look at images, youre going to find a whole lot of variations with different tools, there is one with a button hole hook too.
I can see the appeal for a pocket knife collector. :-)
Hoof pick for sure. I'm not that old, but have spent too much time on horses.
Another thought-- a pipe pick for cleaning the bowl of a pipe. Usually they are straight, but this curved pick looks to be effective.
Also suspect the one in the worthpoint link is actually a pipe pick.

That is an awl/ reamer-- it is useful for punching holes. Not made for pipe cleaning, but it certainly could be used for that. I'd be concerned about the edge cutting into the side of a pipe bowl.

It seems people still aren't sure what this blade is. I believe it's a a hoof pick, with the bend, to dig and pick, there's no reason for an leather awl to have a bend to punch a hole in leather. It could be used as a pipe reamer, but just as a small spoon, or pretty much any blade or scraping tool, will work, but not the tool for the job! :^D Very good post Bigship_Iron, I hope that you got your answer! Nice knife though! :^)
Misread my comments-- the bottom tool on pic #3 is what I identified as the awl.

Seems the folks who want this to be a hoof pick are not reading that the knife is only 1 1/2" long, closed. Hoof picks are 2 1/2" +/- and quite substantial tools. I have seen many of these mini multi-bladed knives and the tool on yours is definitely a bent (straightened-out) glove-button hook.
Great find! i know nothing about pocket knifes, but from what i can see in the second photo, the tip ends in a weird irregular way, looks broken (could be worn out) but, the angle, does seem wider, as if it was intended for a hook, just a thought, Cheers!
Agree too small for a hoof pick, but I don't see it as a glove- button hook either!

Well now I can see, looking closer it may have been broken, and might be a button hook after all. You're right not much use as a hoof pick. Need an edge view, or maybe in closed position, to see it correctly. :^)
Bs_I - I've added a pic of a horseman's knife so everyone can see what a hoof pic looks like (and the size). I hope that puts as least that part of the debate to rest. Your knife has an awl and leather punches on knives look like tapered wood-carving gouges. Pipe tools are thin spikes about 2 1/2" long and folding bowl-reamers look like flattened spoons. I have only ever see one knife with a bowl-reaming blade and that was a prototype. Broken, bent, and re-shaped tools are common on old pocket knives because people are careless and try to pry with anything they have at hand.
Remember Uncle Ron's Axiom: You can open a can of paint with a screwdriver but that doesn't make it a paint-can opener.
Glove hooks were not hardened steel like cutting blades and they often show up straightened to a greater or lesser degree, especially if they were used on shoes. They can be bent back (carefully).
The tool in pic one ,..shows a tool thats used as a nose picker anyone who has one of them as hard as a rock in there nose will swear by it ...seen folks walking down the street using them ... or was that a dream ... anyways ...gool work alaround nife

You can see how small the button hook is, but it may be larger then the one on Bs_I's knife, it also looks like a score on the hook, almost where it could have been broke on the blade in question! :^)

I say that is whatever each of the people above want it to be. I also wonder how many have ever put a hand on a horse's hoof ? I haven't spent my life on horses, but did keep up 5 for some yrs.. I kept their hooves trimmed properly etc.. When one picked up a pebble, or whatever, I flicked it out with my knife or whatever was handy & climbed back on. This could be for picking your nose or scraping wax out of your, or the horse's, ears. It's whatever you want it to be. Bon nuit. LOL !!
I just thought it was a for digging the dirt out of one own nails - as that what I would think. I had a hoof pick for my horse, and this is just too small for that.
For People fingernails, from maybe digging in the garden or when one gets dirt under the nails. When you dig into your nails, you do give a Flick to remove the dirt, so probably why it has a slight twist on it - you know - when you get in there and dig deep in your nails
