Picked up some nice Red Cross posters at an auction last weekend, including this one by Lawrence Wilbur that I'm having trouble digging up info about. There was a series of posters the RC did that worked on the theme "Greatest Mother in the World", but I can't find mention of one matching this one exactly. There was a mention on one of the 'kinda' similars that indicated that one was for the 1919 Roll Call (membership drive).
Does anyone out there have a specific date for this one of mine?
I think the model was Marie Bard and the poster dates from 1930.
On reflection, I deleted my first nonsensical response to you, Flash. Done in haste.
A quick google revealed all. Thanks for the keywords.
This is a hard image to track down, even with clues! And when I did, I found out that this was the image (with modifications) used on a 1931 U.S commemorative stamp ~ #703 Red Cross issue! Should have known that, since I have a copy in my collection.
Still, very little to be found (yet) about the print, given that notoriety.
I added a picture of the stamp (#702) that used the poster image.
