This is my first Taylor trunk. I purchased it at Brimfield MA Antique show today. I'm lucky to live near one of the largest antique shows, I've enjoyed hunting for items there for over 40 years. I love the look of the Taylor trunks with the metal trim and the large latches, this one has number four ones on it. This is a small trunk, which is great because I have to many trunks and have problems finding room for more. Oh wait can you have to many trunks?

This one is 21 X 16.5 and 17 inches tall. My plan is to clean up the metal and maybe leave the material on the wood, mainly because it looks like it would be hard to get it off. Unlike other trunks I've worked on this material is really attached, not lifting. Going to clean it up then decide what to do. Has anyone tried to paint the material to freshen it up? The front lock is damaged, it appears that at some point someone forced it open, I may try and hunt down a replacement. Hopefully, whoever forced it open found treasure. This has no interior tray, not sure that it had one not seeing any signs.

Great find Kathy!! I really love the look of this one and that hardware is awesome!! I have repainted canvas trunks using an oil based satin finish and I've had excellent results.

      Cool find Kathy
Yes ,I have also painted one,and a satin finish is the way to go.
It was also a smaller Taylor trunk that I posted here on CW.
You are correct,if the canvas is solid ,it's best left that way or your in for a
      a real battle.

Canvas, adhesive is like the strongest horse glue known to mankind . I've striped 3 of them before, Gives you a new perspective on pain.

Love the trunk and an excellent size. And yes, canvas is a bear!
