There should be a little latch to the right of the device that has "Kodak" on it. You may need a small screwdriver to fit in there and open it. Let me find one of mine....

got it open, how to pull out lens and stuff?
Everything should be on a pair of rails. There should be a pair of tabs to push on along the rails. Make sure the rails are lined up and gently push on the tabs while pulling it out along the rails. Gently of course> I will check again here tomorrow to see if you have had any success and give more help if needed.
thanks for help, got it opened and pulled out. i see that there where different lens in some models, how to tell the kind of lens i have?
show 3 different lens setting 30, 50, 100, something like that.
now, how to put film in? open back?
Hi jamesclark … can you post a picture of the open camera showing the lens and shutter? As far as opening the back, squeeze the two half-moon shaped metal clasps (one on each side of the back) and the rear should pull off. Specific camera / model information will appear in the back. If you provide that information, as well as a picture of the lens / shutter, I should be able to give you more detailed info about the camera. Ohh … and the toothpick thing is an autographic stylus. This was used with a special version of rollfilm to write information on the edge of the negative. The info appeared after the film was developed.

The new pictures help. This is known as a No.1A Autographic Kodak Junior (as noted on the front badge). It was a very popular and commonly found camera; at least 780,000 produced from December 1914 to January 1927. It made 12 exposures, 2-1/4 x 4-1/4 inch, on A116 roll film. The higher serial number (277082), autographic feature, and the Kodak ball bearing shutter (with meniscus achromatic lens) means the camera was produced sometime after December 1916 to around May 1923. However, this ball bearing shutter has a specific kind of labeling that leads me to believe this is a late 1916 to early 1917 camera. Price in 1916 was $11.00.
