I'm trying to learn more about this doll. The back of the head reads: Made in Germany//201 18/0//DEP. There are a few other indescript markings on the back, as well. The legs are each marked by the hip joint with what appears to be 14. The 4 is clear, I'm guessing at the 1. The head has an open mouthed smile with teeth. (You can literally see through the mouth.) It only stands about 7inches tall.

I bought it for $1 yesterday at a thrift shop. I removed the clothes/wig it came with. I have no reason to believe that they were original. I thought the cork? body, wood arms/legs, and stringing held in place by tiny wood pieces would help with identification more than the heavily bobby pinned wig and the Made in Hong Kong dress.

The stand it was on had a modern $2.97 price tag. I assume the shop thought that was the original price of the doll. I kinda doubt it.

Do not use this price but just use a reference as the buyer set price and does not reflect always what a doll will sell for

The other numbers on your dolls head refer to her size . She is mold 201

That answered a lot. Thank you so much. I was stuck running in "DEP doll" circles online (all of which were larger than I have and not having bodies of this material).

I really appreciate your response. I'm almost inclined to just display her, as is. I know it's technically a "crude body" but I like the material and there's something poetic about having it contrast against the highly detailed head.

I am most impressed with the technique of using the wood pieces to hold the stringing in place. Thanks again!

Very collectible doll and I would keep her also :-) DEP just means it is registered and a patent

She was on a shelf of misc at a run-of-the-mill Goodwill. Sometimes you just get lucky. :)
