This neat little vase followed me home from Salzburg, Austria, where we spent the last day of our vacation. It's a relatively common decor on a rare shape with a delicately hand-tooled rim that has miraculously survived the last 118 years with no chips or dings.
A beautiful find, from a beautiful city ! Congrats Warren....
Well Saved !!!!
Creta Papillon! Common but always beautiful! I wonder if this was made for a mount? Bakalowits?
Dimensions? There are three. (j/k) :)
This piece is about 4.5" tall. As to the metal mount and Bakalowits questions, I don't know. The vase sits quite level and flat on its base, so I don't think it would necessarily have had a mount, but nothing would surprise me. The shape does not appear in the published paper patterns, either regular or Bakalowits commission series, so it's impossible to say.
