Heavy metal Russian Crest box.
It once had a lock which is no longer functioning. The metal (Aside from the bottom) was acid tested as silver.
There are no maker marks except possibly what looks like a letter r?
Unfortunately I can find no comparables online to truly date, determine its function or value this box.
Russian imperial eagle is completely different.
Besides, Russia had centuries long very strict silver marking system and there is no unmarked Russian silver.
Looking at the workmanship I would say early 1900's Russian. Most likely a WW1 souvenir brought home by a soldier in the Army AEF.
