I worked at Mc Gann Bronze Foundry in Somerville in the early 60's as a Pattern Setter.
These bookends were made there
I Put letters of names and dates & service on molds for bronze grave markers.
Started getting orders for our Service men who were killed in Viet-Nam!!!
Being a dumb 16 year old back then, I said where the Hell is Vietnam I found out 2 years later
when I was drafted and sent there 66-67. I was lucky they sent me and others to build supply dumps.
When I left it was Westmorelands headquarters.
They were HEROES ALL!!!!
Absolutely!!!!
Beautiful military bookends, thank you for a great post & for your service
Thank you
I was a High School dropout in 1965 going nowhere when I was drafted!!!
The Army taught me a lot and I was proud of my Service!!
but there was a lot wrong with it. I was a city punk but never saw drugs and weed
til then. You have 500 thousand G.I. S rotating each year being exposed to it over there!!! I believe that's maybe why we have this problem now!!
