I bought this from an auction - a REAL auction, in Sheffield here in the UK a few weeks ago - the lot came with some other junk. I told the auctioneer that he could keep the rest and re-auction for charity and to just send me the vase. I didn't intend buying it for myself as I thought a friend of mine wanted it. Anyway he didn't want it, so, I guess it's mine. Anyway, I'm happy it's mine because it's phenomenal.
There are a few collectors on this forum that own Iris Glatt vases in this tri-ball footed form, but most are relatively small pieces, similar to the one in pic 3. However this piece is extraordinary, very thick glass (7/16" / 11cm at the rim) stands at 37cm (14") tall and weighs in at 5.1kg or 11.6lbs. Compare that to the small vase at 14.5cm and 450gr.
The actioneer commented on the condition saying it had a crack on the neck, but when it arrived it is a surface scratch - nothing serious, so it is possible that at some stage it may or may not have had a collar.
Tough pieces to photograph, better in daylight, a very grey day today, so not up to my usual high standards - sorry to dissapoint ; )
certainly has a significant presence philm

Thanks Malkey, it certainly does. Bloody unstable though, gotta find a safe space for it!
This is beautiful, Phil. I love the color and have never seen one with applied prunts like this before!
