I was very pleased to find this iridescent Heckert vase a few months ago, since I have one in the same size and shape, in Heckert's Marmopal decor (on the left in the second picture.) This vase was being sold as Loetz Olympia, but due to the shape and the also slightly different green coloration of the glass, I knew it was actually Heckert. This decor is called Cypern; a very similar decor was also produced by Josephinenhütte. This vase is 5-3/4" (14.6cm) tall, has a fire-polished rim, and a round highly-polished pontil.

Fritz Heckert originally started a refinery in 1866 (he was not then a glass maker) in Petersdorf, Silesia and was known for doing beautiful enamel work on glass blanks provided by nearby Josephinenhütte and by Harrach (and perhaps others). In 1889 Heckert built his own glass furnace, and began making his own Art Nouveau style iridescent glass. The company continued after Fritz Heckert's death in 1890, and merged with Josephinenhütte in 1923.

Difficult to say which I like more.....but definitely fun to see the two together. The one breezy and light hearted and the other refined and quietly stylish!

Hi sklo, thank you very much! They are quite different, aren't they? I love to compare decors on the same shape! :)
