This is the rarest of the Hubley 500 series tractor/trailers. It's the #514 Caterpillar Log Truck Set, only offered in '58. It's the 500 crown jewel, the caterpillar and the trailer are unique to this set and uncatalogged seperately. The cat body came on the 505 front end loader and the 903 bulldozer. This cat has an extended hitch the others didn't have. The log trailer is also longer(pic 4) than the standard orange log trailer that came with 3 different cabs. Tractor and trailer are 22 1/2", the longest #500 set, maybe the longest post war Hubley set also.
It's in great optimum shape with a box. The box isn't perfect, but this set is super rare even without a box.
Got it from Ebay from Tony, a super nice person, who kindly accepted my offer. I paid more than I have before for a 500, but this is the Hubley Hope Diamond. Considering rarity, condition and box I got a great deal. You'll rarely see this combo, believe me. I don't have restore it either, this is almost unknown territory for me.
Thanks for dropping in,
The elated Toyrebel
Nice toys as Always Sir
But I don’t feel any better
About LSU-Tide
Remember though we had Nick first
LSU gave them the best game of the year. The defense did all they could, but they needed the offense to do better. Nick's the best, he finally found his home.
I am so happy you bought this too. Was not my thing and I’m excited for you. Sitting here in my think tank and getting dust - now it’s actually home where it belongs... look for more to come !! Ebay ID Ideal333 !! Play mobil - brand new with boxes coming up soon !
Tony, I'm still ecstatic about it. It will always be treasured by me. I know how hard it is to find this, let alone finding one in this condition. I'll keep my eyes on your items for sure.

Tony, you ought to post some of your collectables here at CW. It's a great place with some great fellow collectors with some nice items.
Thanks everybody.
BrunsW: I always liked construction equipment as a kid. The Cats were exceptionally cool serious looking with their colors. Your father must have been an ace welder to be employed by them. My old man had a D4 for a while. It was a blast to drive.
I meant grandfather.
Congrats on a Holy Grail.
Thanks Apache, it's a early Christmas present from me. I love it.
